Learning to Celebrate

So yesterday was my birthday.

I’m now a quarter of a century old! Holla!

Originally, I wasn’t too excited about my birthday. Not because I don’t enjoy saying that I’m getting “older.” It’s more of having a hard time celebrating myself. I love celebrating other people–everything about them. But then it’s really hard to be on the receiving end of that. It’s hard to accept it for myself for some reason.

So with that, and then I was just also just a little homesick, I wasn’t necessarily looking forward to my birthday this year.

But the Lord and my house were committed to celebrating me on my day.

And it was beautiful.

The Lord literally woke me up yesterday morning, and He said, “So, are you ready to celebrate yourself today? Are you ready to be covered in love and blessings for this upcoming year? Because whether you like it or not, it’s about to happen.”

So instead of walking into the day not super excited–the Lord pumped me up a little more than I had anticipated. He reminded me of His love for me first, and then showed me that so many people around me love and care about me in a deep way and want to celebrate my life as well.

And y’all, it was a fantastic day.

It was filled with coffee, Mexican food, surprise notes, apple cider, cupcakes, and some of the greatest women around.

They each made me feel loved and celebrated.

So great.

Here’s to being 25! I’m looking forward to seeing what this Year of Jubilee has in store for me.

Here’s some pretty awesome pictures of my day.
