Living in the Lake House has its benefits and its drawbacks.
Mostly benefits.
I mean, who wouldn’t love waking up to views like this every morning?
(These photos were taken by one of the other girls living in my house, Ashley.)
I can really only think of benefits of living at the Lake House.
The only drawback? A thirty minute commute to the office every morning. It can be pretty long some mornings. I mean, I guess I can just take a nap on my way there.
But.
I choose not to. The only “drawback” is actually a really beautiful time in the car. We usually have some really good conversations on the way to/from the office. But often, especially in the mornings, my morning commute is when I hear the Lord speaking softly to my heart.
It was on one of these morning commutes that I heard Him say something that made me laugh at first.
We were driving down the road when we passed by a fire station. And I heard him say, “Make the station a loaf of banana bread and give it to them to say thanks for their service.” I couldn’t help but respond to Him by giggling. I mean, I’ve baked for police and firemen before. But I’ve never done it randomly. It had always been as part of a group.
So later that day as we drove home and we passed by the fire station again, I heard Him say it again, “Bekah, make them a loaf of banana bread and take it to them.” And I just couldn’t get it off my mind.
So instead of questioning the Lord’s motives, I just said yes. I chose to give Him my simple yes and move forward to answer Him in that way.
What happened?
That weekend I made a loaf of banana bread. And then I delivered the bread to the station.
And that’s all.
There’s no amazing story.
There’s just my simple yes.
I don’t know what the Lord’s motives were, or how He’s going to use that banana bread in someone’s life. But I said yes.
And that’s what matters.
